YOASOBI, a unit consisting of composer Ayase and vocalist ikura, "turns novels into music." Their debut song "Yoru ni Kakeru," released in November 2019, quickly gained attention, topping various domestic streaming charts, ranking on viral charts in multiple countries, and securing the number one spot on the 2020 Billboard JAPAN overall song chart and streaming song chart. Currently, its cumulative streaming plays have surpassed 1 billion, a first in history. They also performed at the 71st NHK Kohaku Uta Gassen. In January 2021, they released their highly anticipated 1st EP, "THE BOOK," which garnered significant attention for its luxurious packaging that truly embodies the concept of "turning novels into music," and it topped the Oricon Digital Album Ranking for five consecutive weeks, with all seven tracks ranking within the Apple Music Top 15. In July, in collaboration with Uniqlo's "UT," they held a free online concert, "SING YOUR WORLD," at UNIQLO CITY TOKYO within Uniqlo's Ariake headquarters, which recorded 280,000 simultaneous viewers. In December, they released their 2nd EP, "THE BOOK 2," and their first live concert with an audience, "NICE TO MEET YOU," held at the Nippon Budokan on the 4th and 5th of the same month, attracted 14,000 people over two days, generating excitement with related hashtags trending daily. At the end of the year, they made their second consecutive appearance on the 72nd NHK Kohaku Uta Gassen. In February 2022, they launched "Hajimete no," a project in which four Naoki Prize-winning authors—Rio Shimamoto, Mizuki Tsujimura, Miyuki Miyabe, and Eto Mori—write original novels and sequentially release songs based on them, and a book containing the four original novels was released. In August, they made their first appearance at a summer festival on the stage of "ROCK IN JAPAN FESTIVAL 2022," and performed their first live shows at various festivals across the country, attracting attention for their unique stage and production using LED panels. In conjunction with their summer festival appearances, they launched a mobile bookstore, "Traveling Bookstore YOASOBI-go," which not only sold YOASOBI-related books but also attracted attention for its wide range of activities, including selling curry supervised by Ayase and ikura from a food truck. Their song "Shukufuku," the opening theme for the October 2022 TV anime "Mobile Suit Gundam: Mercury Witch," along with its original novel "Yurikago no Hoshi" (written by Ichiro Okouchi), received a great response and quickly achieved 100 million streams. In February 2023, they digitally released "Adventure," the theme song for Universal Studios Japan's "Uni-Haru," and in March, they performed at "Uni-Haru! Live 2023," held at a special venue in Gramercy Park at Universal Studios Japan. The message embedded in the song, created based on the experiences of students during the COVID-19 pandemic, and the collaborative performances with various characters at live shows, have resonated with a wide range of people, not just students of the same generation. "Idol," the opening theme song for the TV anime "[Oshi no Ko]," released on April 12th (Wednesday), topped the Billboard JAPAN overall song chart "JAPAN Hot 100" for 21 consecutive weeks, breaking Billboard JAPAN's all-time record for consecutive weeks at number one, and also surpassed 400 million cumulative streams in the fastest time ever. Furthermore, it also topped the US Billboard Global Chart "Global Excl. US," Apple Music "Top 100: Global," and YouTube music charts TOP 100 songs Global, setting one J-POP first after another. The TikTok LIVE broadcast worldwide on April 24th attracted approximately 630,000 cumulative viewers and over 120,000 simultaneous viewers, setting the highest number of viewers for a performance by a domestic artist on TikTok LIVE. Their first arena tour, "YOASOBI ARENA TOUR 2023 'Denkō Sekka'," drew a total of 130,000 people across 14 shows in 7 cities, including additional performances. In August, they made their first appearance at an LA festival, "HEAD IN THE CLOUDS Los Angeles," organized by 88rising, generating buzz in all directions.
